A Festive Christmas Of Chow Chow Dogs: The Pack From Singapore!

A Festive Christmas Of Chow Chow Dogs: The Pack From Singapore!

Spotting one or two Chow Chow Dogs can be an enthralling sight, what would you do if you were surrounded by more than ten of these fuzzy wonders all at once?— we were fascinated. SG Chow Lions (Singapore’s very own group dedicated to Chows and their owners) celebrated their Christmas at Ah B’s Café, in which we were only too honoured to be invited to attend! In case you were wondering, there were more than just Chows at this gathering, other Dogs were also welcomed

Are Chows Really Aggressive By Nature?

While research may have informed us that Chows can be an aggressive breed by nature, what leads up to that fact might be due to improper training or lack thereof. Establishing a dominant role with your Chow is equally as important— with firm but loving methods. Asserting violence or force is not necessary, just a whole lot of patience and positive reinforcements (treats and praises) for good behaviour!

As mentioned in our earlier article on the Chow Chow breed, socialization at an early stage encourages Chows to be much friendlier amongst peers and other Dogs. That, we feel, is where social groups like SG Chow Lions can come into play, owners can share experiences and gatherings are an opportunity for socializing— for human companions too ☺

SG Chow Lions Xmas Gathering 2017

We’ve got a first-hand experience at this particular Christmas gathering, where owners were aware of the Chows’ nature and considerate of each other’s pets— that means juggling between keeping an eye on their own Doggos, other Doggos, all whilst mingling and enjoying the little party. Not confident of your own Chow’s aggressiveness? Strap on a muzzle or leash, nopawdy’s gonna laugh, they’d be thankful of your consideration and training efforts!

A true Christmas gathering this was, gift goodie-bags, all the fuzz, and food— for Dogs and Humans. While the pet-friendly Café had a good sized indoor seating, and a mini lounging spot, our dear Chow friends were pretty large Dogs, and for that, there was an ample outdoor space for the canines to roam about if necessary. Festive lights and décor got all the Chows comfy and cooled in the air-conditioned space.

Were The Chows Friendly?

We can safely say for sure that the Chows we met that day were a friendly lot! It was amusing to observe how they were inquisitive about one another. When one barks, a medley of barks from different Doggos follow through.

You could clearly tell their owners had the right control over their own Pets, because any chance of imminent “dominance-establishing” behavior from a Chow is promptly curbed by respective owners! —no strangers to random over-stimulated Pet moments. As two new hoomins in this extreme fuzziness, it was a meet-and-greet sesh with gentle giants. Thank you for having us, SG Chow Lions, it was an absolute pleasure meeting Clarise (Founder), Plex, Chen, Sim, Sheila, and Joanna. Not to mention all your lovely Chow Chows!
