Animal Rescue Groups And What You Can Do For Those In Need
Hurricane Harvey is a
tropical cyclone that hit the shores of United States recently, building up
from the 17th of August 2017. It strengthened around the 25th of August, leaving devastating aftermaths from dangerously flooding Texas. The
death toll of this catastrophic disaster is currently at 65. The state of
emergency of this multitude is surviving with help from its own country,
President Trump was at the scene of aftermath, making an official funding
request for aiding survivors of the hurricane.
Major celebrities
like Leonardo Di Caprio, and Sandra Bullock were one of the few whom made million
dollar donations. Our very own sunny island Singapore had a part to play too,
The Singapore Armed Forces has dispatched Chinook helicopters to aid in search
and rescue. Much of the dangerous period has since subsided, and folks are now
on the route to recovering from the traumatic disaster.
Lost But Not Forgotten
Hurricane Harvey has
left many homes and structures destroyed, and survivors are now living within
shelters. In a state of panic, some Pet owners may not have the luxury of
evacuating their Pets in time. This time, the relief efforts of the nation also
rounded up stranded pets and animals! Brave Folks were seen evacuating their
homes through waist-high water levels while clutching their Fur-babies. Watching
these heart-warming footages only made us think “We would have done the same too
for our Pets!”

Did you know? Pets and animals
were not allowed in shelters during Hurricane Katrina, which left many folks
refusing to evacuate and leave their beloved Pets behind. We are glad the
regulations have since changed for the better!
Animal Rescue In Singapore
While we are
fortunately not living in a location so susceptible to immense natural disasters,
the common issue we possess is working towards proactive rescue, stopping
animal abuse and aiding the noble cause of adopting a Pet as opposed to buying
one. You might not have noticed it, but much of these works belong to
non-profitable groups whom provide a loving roof over these fragile creatures.

We come across many
strays in our lives, but unusual behaviour may cause us to think twice. Like
how a Pet with collar shouldn’t be seen out without its owner nearby, at times,
the animal seems lost or frightened. We hate to admit it but that most of us
choose to turn a blind eye when they see an animal in need. However, it is also
safe to say that in every animal lover, there’s a kind hearted soul ready to
help! Contacting help would also mean that we’d have to stay by the animal
until rescue arrives. This greatly ensures there’s immediate and accurate
information on the animal’s whereabouts (because
you’re right by it ☺)

Some of
our good folks have banded together with hopes of rescuing as many abandoned
animals as possible here on our sunny island. A few are currently at
full-capacity and unable to take in any more rescues. Visiting of these
shelters are also by appointment only, do check with them beforehand ☺ These are the non-profit organisations in the order of Dogs, Cats and Rabbits.

How Can I Help These Animals?
Apart from
contacting help for rescues, there are many ways to provide assistance to these
shelters. Rescued animals are provided the much needed food, housing and also
medical care, which is why shelters absolutely appreciate as much help from the
public in any means possible. If you wish to, you may also make a donation in forms
of food, products and if possible, some of your time to volunteer at these
shelters!
A little effort from everyone can go a long way into providing safe
and comfortable housing for these lives, until they find a forever home. Better yet, when you are absolutely ready and committed for a Pet, adopt one!
