It’s A Paw Party: Sixth Avenue Playground Singapore
A triple event last
Saturday got us all extremely beat, with Pet Carnival at Sunset Way Family Day,
Parrotopia at Sentosa, and last but not least, here we are at our last stop,
Sixth Avenue Playground, along Lim Tai See Walk, for It’s a Paw Party!
Finally got here! |
Quite frankly,
because we were not from the area, we got a little lost searching for the
location. It was already evening by the time we got there, but the atmosphere and
buzz of the event was definitely inviting. From a distance we spotted the familiar
faces of a human, and a Dog. It was Bern of Purely Adoptions, whom we
recognised from Nee Soon GRC Pets Fiesta J
He was walking the very same Dog that accompanied MP K. Shanmugam during the Pets
Fiesta Walk-a-thon.
This boy is obedient! Bern guarantees it! |
(Psssst,
this Dog is extremely well behaved and He’s still available for adoption!)
What Went On At The Event?
The sole purpose of
this event was an attempt to gather the Residential pet community for a little
fun in the neighbourhood. And boy was there a turnout! Housed under a little
tent was an array of booths, which included adoption for both Dogs and Rabbits,
sale of Pet food and accessories.
The crowd really poured in |
A Health Check Up
There were two main
attractions of this event which really caught our attention, and one of which
was a free basic health check provided by Mount Pleasant Veterinary. For a tiny
cozy event like this, it was a definite plus point.
Basic Grooming Please
If a free Basic
Health Check for your Furkid wasn’t enough, how about a free Basic Grooming
from Pawsitive Petcare and Takara Pets? Quite frankly we couldn’t have asked
for more, because who doesn’t like free service, especially when it comes to
caring for your furry companion?
Adopt Don’t Shop
Events are a great
medium for Shelters and groups to promote adoption and seek good homes for rescued
animals. Well this Paw Party managed to house not 1, not 2, but 3 adoption
booths. Of which included the good folks of Purely Adoptions, Oasis SecondChance Animal Shelter (OSCAS), both whom brought Dogs and Puppies available for
adoption. We had lovely conversations with volunteers and founders of these
shelters. It was rather heart-warming to notice the Animal Shelters were all
bonded for a similar cause, as opposed to being competitive. All pooches were
looking their absolute best that day!
Aren't we adorable? |
I'm not for adoption, Mommy brought me here to join the fun! |
Our attentions were quickly diverted to the 3rd Adoption booth, this time, it was a hopping goodness of rescued Rabbits, brought in by Bunnies for AdoptionSingapore (BAS). No children that day could resist holding an adorable Bunny in their arms, but not without supervision and guidance from volunteers of course! Can we also include the fact that these Bunnies had amazing temperaments?
Dog Training
The staff from Happy
Dog were there to cover the educational segment of this event, which entailed
Dog training tips, games, and an entertaining obstacle course for the furry
guests! We can’t stress enough on the importance of educating the public on Pet
ownership, where experience counts, knowledge comes in handy for both new and
existing owners!
Obstacle course turned resting playpen |
Products And Accessories
Bumping into yet
another familiar face from Nee Soon GRC Pets Fiesta, SilverSky had their array
of Quality Pet food and treats by brands like Stella & Chewy and Wellness.
With the recent scare of Wellness products, we were assured by the team
here at this event that the particular product is not sold here in Singapore (What a relief!) Thanks for the heads up
guys! Event goers also had the luxury of shopping for their pets with other
booths by Takara Pets, and NekoJam. The fair share of different products from
the 3 booths was a definite plus point!
Don’t Forget The Birds
Happy Owners, Happy Birds! |
With our minds still
blown away from the myriad of colourful birds at Parrotopia just before this
event, we found ourselves standing in the midst of some Parrots yet again! Apologies
for singing a little praise, but The Happy Bird was one of our personal
favourite, only because there never seems to be a booth like such at Pet events
we’ve been to so far. Needless to say, we bought our beloved Budgerigar (Taco)
some new toys!
Grace had a sweet nature, and a sweet lil pet bird! |
Was It Worth The Trip?
With every Pet event
The Pets Dialogue has been to, new friendships are forged. This particular
event had just what we needed to unwind from a hard day’s work, the cherry and
bright atmosphere at this little playground brought smiles to every Event goer
and it was contagious. There was only one thing short for this event, we
wondered where all the feline friends were *Chuckles*
The kind girl that gave us directions when we got lost looking for the event! |
Great effort on covering
all things pets for this tiny event though! Here’s hoping future Pet events
from this Lim Tai See community could get hold of a wider space and house an
even greater variety of people, and their furry, and feathered companions!
Thank you for having us over! J
Cooper the Shiba Inu. We miss you already! |
Overview
Three events back to
back was perhaps a little ambitious for our team to cover, but nonetheless
every second was fruitful, joyous and enjoyable for us. All in all, it has been
a wonderful Saturday spent with people and pets from all walks of life, each
with different experiences and stories to share. We hold every conversation
dear to us, and it was an amazing opportunity to learn and notice how good
souls are making the effort to help bring awareness in the Pets Community. Some
events might not be as perfect as one might expect, but improvements can’t be
obtained without the first attempts, agreed?
To all the good folks
of Pet Carnival on Sunset Way Family Day, Parrotopia and It’s A Paw Party!,
Thank you, we had a pawsome time, painted with exuberant, vibrant feathers!
