Homemade Chicken Jerky With Different Flavours For Dogs

We all love our pets, and we feel that partaking in a little home cooking for your pet can feel extremely rewarding for both parties. Homemade Dog Treat


Today we are going to try out a very, very, simple treat. Chicken Jerkies. Trust us, this only takes minutes. Guess what, it comes with all sorts of natural flavoured recipes to spice things up for your pooch! This recipes were found on Kol's Notes



Ingredients

3 lbs. (approx. 1.3 kg) Chicken breast chunks (or thinly sliced chicken breast)

Homemade Dog Treat



Flavour Marinades:

2 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh ginger
1 cup finely chopped cilantro

OR

1 cup apple cider vinegar,
1 cup unsweetened apple juice
2 tbsp. finely chopped rosemary

OR

1 ½ cup water
½ cup honey
 2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh basil

1 ½ cup water
½ cup maple syrup
2 tbsp finely chopped thyme

Directions


1. Whisk together marinade ingredients of your choice.
2. Place chicken in a shallow dish or plastic bag and cover with marinade.
3. Place in fridge and marinate 12 – 24 hours.
4. Preheat oven to 425F (Approx. 218 Degree Celsius)
5. Line baking trays with parchment paper. Lay out chicken pieces on the trays.
6. Bake chicken 15 minutes or until cooked through.

Additional Tips


Oven Method:
Reduce heat to 200F (Approx. 93 Degree Celsius) and slow cook for 3 -12 hours, flipping occasionally until jerky is dry.


Dehydrator Method:
Place chicken chunks onto dehydrator trays. Set to the HIGH or MEAT setting. Dehydrate for 2 – 12 hours, no flipping necessary, until jerky is dry


Cut a piece in half to test for doneness. Jerky is dry when there is no moisture in the centre of the treat and it is the same colour throughout.

Store these for quite some time in zip-lock bags and air tight containers. Now you have a non-costly, tasty, ready-to-go treat any time of the day!
