Incredibly Unlikely Animal Friendships You Won't Expect!

Incredibly Unlikely Animal Friendships You Won't Expect!

Pet owners in general are huge fans of creatures in the Animal Kingdom, and while it isn’t unusual for similar species to cohabit and live together harmoniously, incredible Animal friendships captured by many across the world serves a strong message across on how love knows no boundaries. We promise these photos and videos are going to charm and inspire you to love and treasure in life even more than before!

Can All Animals Get Along With One Another?

As fellow animal lovers, we find it tough to stick to just one type of Pet, especially with space restrains and possible socialisation issues between the animals. For the fortunate ones, friendships are forged almost naturally between different types of Pets, and also through frequent bonding and early training for some.

For example, it is difficult to imagine how a Cat would get along with a hamster, given their natural instincts are to hunt, and to survive as a prey respectively. Well we’ve picked these SEVEN unlikely friendships captured on films and photographs are going to prove that point so wrong, even we still find them unbelievable!

1. Bob The Golden Retriever And His Many Friends

We’re pretty certain you might have come across these adorable photos of a Golden Retriever chilling around the home with 4 Budgerigars, 2 Cockatoos, 2 Finches and a Dwarf Hamster. How is that even remotely possible?! These photos are way beyond cute, it left such a warm imprint in our hearts. Meet Bob from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and his many friends whom which are all pets to owner Luiz Higa Junior. There seems to be an additional Golden Retriever by the name of Marley too! (Bob Marley, Geddit? ☺)

2. Ichimi the Kitten and Ponzu The Golden Retriever

Movies in general have already altered our perception when it comes to Dogs and Cats. Are they only bound to fight upon every encounter? Not true! Just take this example of Ponzu the Golden Retriever and Ichimi, a rejected kitten whom found love and friendship in this unlikely Duo.
In case you were wondering, this Instagram account is also home of the original Shimeji Wasabi, name to a different kitten rescued from a severe crow attack, by owner Jessie. Wasabi is an internet sensation for his photo in an adorable hand knitted Shimeji Mushroom costume (an idea to keep her from injuring herself further). Sadly, Wasabi has since passed on (R.I.P. Wasabi-chan), leaving Jessie and Ponzu in mourning until they eventually met Ichimi. Now Ponzu and Ichimi are inseparable friends. What a long and touching journey of lost and new found love, isn’t it?

3. The Hound And Fox

Here’s Sniffer and Tinni (aka Snusen oj TInni) with their beautiful story of chancing upon one another in the wintery Norwegian forest. The duo of a Dog and Red Fox formed such a captivating friendship and bond that owner Torgeir Berge was inspired to capture the surreal moments of Sniffer and Tinni together. He even published a book called Sniffer and Tinni : A True Tale of Amazing Animal Friendship, loaded with original photographs and a heartwarming story. Proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to help the cause of wildlife preservation. Torgeir Berge hopes to educate the public on anti-fur trade and saving wild animals like Tinni the fox.

4. Bearded Dragon and Cat

Best friends Puppet the Cat and Puff the Bearded Dragon are always seen together, an amusing sight that is nothing short of a true bond between two different species. From cuddling to lounging, the love can be felt through their compelling photographs, or better still, here’s a video!

5. Mother Hen and Her Puppies

Mabel the chicken was rescued by owners in Shrewsbury, England and eventually took on the role of protecting new born puppies as though they were her own. Owners Edward and Ros first noticed this behaviour when they saw how Mabel would hop into the nesting basket whenever Nettle (real canine mother of the puppies) would leave to watch the farm outdoors. Marvel at the protective instinct of this one motherly Hen!

6. Elephant and Dog Best Friends

This is a touching true story of how Bubbles the Elephant and Bella the Dog found solace and friendship in one another in Myrtle Beach Safari, Carolina. Bella was an abandoned Dog that bonded so well with Bubbles, both now adopted by the Safari. Together they share lots of fun moments in a pool built specially for Bubbles!

7. The Cat and Fox

Looks like Foxes turned out to be much more sociable than we thought, as this Cat and Fox from Turkey proved just that. Spotted by a local fisherman and captured on video, this unlikely duo is seen playing and sharing many inseparable moments, almost as if they were brought up together. Apparently they are wild and not anyone’s pets! Admiring the true beauty of nature itself takes on a whole new level here.
